Summary:
The Sanctuary Shelter Director is responsible for the overall management, leadership and administration of a sanctuary shelter facility that provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals or families in need. The Director’s primary focus is to ensure the effective operation of the shelter, the well-being of residents, and the coordinator of services and resources to help them transition to stable housing and self-sufficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop and implement sanctuary programs and services in alignment with the sanctuary’s mission and goals.
- Create and maintain a welcoming, safe, and supportive atmosphere for residents.
- Coordinate and oversee daily sanctuary operations, including intake, assessment, case management, and residential activities.
- Recruit, hire, train and supervise shelter staff, including supervisors, case managers, support staff and volunteers (if applicable).
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations to ensure staff are equipped to provide quality care and assistance to residents.
- Ensure access to necessary resources such as food, clothing, medical care, mental health services and job trainings.
- Facilitate workshops, counseling, and educational programs to support residents’ personal growth and empowerment.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with local government agencies, community organizations, donors, and other stakeholders.
- Represent the Sanctuary in public forums, meetings, and events to advocate for the needs of unhoused individuals and families.
- Manage the Sanctuary’s budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support program operations.
- Monitor expenses, track financial performance, and prepare regular financial reports for organizational leadership and funders.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and licensing requirements pertaining to sanctuary operations and resident safety.
- Maintain accurate records, statistics, and reports on sanctuary activities, resident demographics, and program outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of the sanctuary’s long term strategic plan and goals.
- Identify opportunities for growth, improvement, and expansion of sanctuary services.
- Support HR related inquiries or requests.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Management, Humanities, Psychology, Human Services, and 2 years of experience
- Knowledge of Human Resources policies.
- Attention to detail
- Good record keeping skills
- Outstanding communication skills for working with operations staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $80,000.00 per year
